What's on Annie's mind this week? Find Your Unicorn!

What makes a great product or service? How do you take that idea at 3am and turn it into a multi-million dollar company? How do you become successful and feel like you have lived a life full of ‘everything’? These are questions I never asked myself until I hit my late 30’s, which actually happens to be around 39. The time I started my mid-life crisis and figured out I was in the wrong career with the wrong peers and no mentors in site. I was miserable but had ideas, dreams and the only thing I wanted was praise for the amazing work I did. But looking back all I got was a peer who was more like a horrible frightening bully, a boss who said I was over-emotional and focused on my weaknesses and had really good healthcare.

“Those who are blessed with the most talent don't necessarily outperform everyone else. It's the people with follow-through who excel.” ~Mary Kay Ash

I knew I had to leave that world and come back to reality where people liked me, where my ideas and dreams would be turned into reality and where I would have mentors and peers that love and respect me. How the hell did I move from one dimension to the other? I took my over-emotional ass and turned it into strength, passion and a career. A career that gives back to my community and makes the world a better place. I bring my clients sanity, growth and balance. My clients are true small business owners. That 3am idea turned into hiring ‘real’ people in my clients' communities, bringing money and commerce into their local economy and helping communities grow and thrive.

Many small business owners, like myself do not have a parent, aunt or mentor to help them get into a family business or just generally push them to excel in life. I think that my grandparents were just happy that I could pay my rent and graduate from college. I do not believe that anyone ever thought I would be as successful as I am today. And success should not only be measured in terms of money...success to me is that I have a kick-ass attitude and I can back it up with sticking through with my plans.

How are you sticking through? How are you giving back to your community? How are you building a business based on your values and life mission?

XOXO,
Annie
